Fire crews responded to a brush fire in Plymouth Township on Route 11 Tuesday afternoon. Officials state the fire began at the bottom of a hill on North Mill Street on Route 11 at the back of a residence due to open burning around 11:30 a.m. Fire crews have said the brush fire was spreading very fast but they were able to get it under control by 12:30 p.m. “It was a fire that began at the back of the residence as a result of open burning. At that point, it spread to the adjacent mountain behind it. The fire is under control. It took about an hour to bring it under control,” stated Chief Mark Boncal of the Nanticoke Fire Department. No injuries were reported and no building was affected by the fire. Multiple fire crews have responded to keep the blaze under control.
