Doylestown’s fire station will be capping off its celebration of the 100th anniversary of its Ahrens-Fox pumper truck with one last party on Thursday night.
Doylestown Fire Company No. 1 on Shewell Avenue will open its doors at 7 p.m. on Nov. 30 to celebrate the truck, which arrived in town in 1923. Thursday night’s free event will feature presentations by members of the fire company, a tour of the firehouse, which was built in 1902 and designed by local architect Oscar Martin, and a screening of a video about the Ahrens-Fox.
The fire department will also be selling a special Mercer commemorative tile featuring the Ahrens-Fox truck.
The pumper, which has been renovated over the years, was unveiled at another party in June of this year. Since then, it’s been at a number of events both in and outside of Doylestown.
