PHOTOS: A Bradford County Fire Department is reminding residents there is a burn ban in effect. The Franklin Township Volunteer Fire Department in Monroeton would like to remind Bradford County residents of a county-wide burn ban in effect until April 14. The fire department posted the reminder on Facebook after responding to two brush fires in less than a week. On Saturday, volunteer firefighters responded to a second brush fire just after 2pm on Bee Balm Lane in Monroeton. The fire was sparked from a burn barrel causing 2 acres to burn in less than 20 minutes. The current temporary ban means open burning is defined as the ignition and subsequent out-of-doors burning of any combustible material including: Garbage, litter, leaves, grass, twigs or vegetative matter involved with land cleaning.
