VIDEO: Firefighters in Schuylkill County battled a massive fire Sunday that affected 6 homes and left 3 firefighters and 2 civilians injured.
One Minersville resident came to the rescue and helped 2 people get out of the attic when the fire started.
“My adrenaline was just running, I wanted to save him," said Oscar Rivera. "I didn’t want to see him like that. He was calling for help, I just wanted save him.”
Rivera was in his home on North 2nd Street at around 12:30 when his wife heard a loud explosion across the street, and they saw the flames. He used a wooden stepladder to reach the people trapped while his family watched him. The resident who shared the footage called Rivera a hero. “She called me a hero, thank you, but I was there just to save him," said Rivera.
