VIDEO: On Sunday night, a fire broke out and caused severe damage to multiple homes in York City.
Crews were called to the 500 block of North Pershing Avenue just before 7 a.m. According to Chief William Sleeger of York City, there was heavy fire to the rear of four homes when crews arrived. Firefighters had to deal with blinding smoke.
The fire went to three alarms and involved six homes. It took fire crews about 90 minutes to get the fire under control, according to the chief.
Sleeger says one resident was taken to the hospital and as many as 20 people have been displaced by the fire. The Red Cross was called to the scene.
Damage is estimated at over $500,000.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
