A house fire in Salisbury Township turned into a rescue mission when three animals were stuck inside. "We were able to rescue one dog out of the house that survived," said Fire Chief Joshua Wells, Western Salisbury Volunteer Fire Company. "Unfortunately, two cats did perish." Flames and heavy smoke could be seen coming from the roof of the home. Wells says when the pup came out, rescuers could tell he was suffering from a lack of oxygen. "We were able to put the oxygen mask around the dog's nose and they were working with the dog to get it and it was a survivable outcome fortunately," Wells said. The fire started around 11:30 p.m. Monday in the 3100 block of Lindberg Avenue in Salisbury Township. According to Wells, the five people who lived at the home at the time of the fire tried to put the fire out themselves.
