VIDEO: Multiple fire crews were dispatched to a coal fire in Schuylkill County on Sunday morning.
According to county dispatchers, the fire at Gilberton Coal Company broke out around 9:58 a.m. It was contained by 10:23 a.m., dispatchers said.
According to Mahanoy City Fire Chief Dan Markiewicz, heavy smoke was visible when firefighters arrived.
Markiewicz says the fire remains under investigation, but he believes the fire started accidentally and was not malicious.
No injuries were reported, the fire chief said.
