Two horses were saved when a barn burned early Monday in Carbon County. Flames broke out around 3:30 a.m. inside a barn along Buck Mountain Road in Lausanne Township, near Weatherly. When crews arrived, they needed to call for extra help twice to get the flames under control. The fire chief told Newswatch 16 that two horses were rescued from inside the barn and ultimately made it out safely. No one was seriously hurt, but one person was taken to the hospital to get checked out. There is no word about how the fire started, but it's not considered suspicious at this time. A fire marshal will investigate the cause in Carbon County.
