The township had already named a fire chief to lead its consolidated fire departments. Now it has a deputy chief.
Nottingham Fire Department Chief Ron Harris was officially named the Bensalem Volunteer Fire Department Deputy Chief.
Harris has served as Nottingham's chief since 1998, making him the most tenured fire chief in the township.
"Today he makes history as the 1st Deputy Chief of the consolidated Bensalem Fire Departments," the fire department said. "Congratulations Chief we look forward to what the future holds."
Harris also received congratulations from other township fire companies. "The Eddington Fire Company would like to congratulate Ron, wish him luck in his new role, and will support him in any possible way we can," the fire department said.
