VIDEO: A fire has displaced eight people from their Weisenberg Township home.
About a dozen departments from Lehigh County and neighboring Berks County rushed to fight the flames early Tuesday morning. The family tells 69 News they all got out okay, and so did their dog. After hours of searching, they found their two cats as well, which got checked out at the vet.
"I arrived on scene, noticed that we did have smoke coming from the rear of the building, shortly followed by flames," said Weisenberg Assistant Fire Chief Justin Oswald.
Firefighters received a 4:30 a.m. wakeup call to head to Old Route 22 in Weisenberg Township. "We are investigating the area of origin at this point," said Oswald. "The bulk of the fire was on the second and third floor."
