VIDEO: The city of Pottsville unveiled plans for a commemorative park on Thursday, all part of the 70th Schuylkill County Volunteer Firefighters Convention.
The construction of "Discovery Park" is set to begin on Friday, along West Market Street in the city's downtown.
Plans include a public amphitheater and a common area. All tied together with a multi-story mural highlighting the history of firefighting in Pottsville.
"The first step of the park was the creation of this mural on the Discovery Park wall, which was created by Megan Price, and with the inspiration of Mike GLORE to commemorate the history of the city fire department," said Tom Palamar, Pottsville City Administrator.
