A fire at 79 Palace Ave. early Wednesday caused heavy damage to a ranch-style house and displaced its residents, according to the Warwick Fire Department.
Firefighters were called at about 12:20 a.m., and the two adult residents were already out of the house when they arrived, Warwick Battalion Chief Tom Bradley said.
Eighteen firefighters responded to the call, and they found heavy fire coming from the rear of the house. They had it under control in about 20 minutes, Bradley said.
Nobody was injured.
The Red Cross is helping the residents, Bradley said.
The cause of the fire is under investigation, according to Bradley.
