With 63 calls in 72 hours, North Kingstown firefighters had anything but a relaxing Memorial Day weekend, especially Sunday night.
A news release from Fire Chief Scott G. Kettelle said that at 9:09 p.m. Sunday, two engines, a ladder truck and a rescue from North Kingston helped East Greenwich and Coventry contain a garage fire at 12 Laurel Lane in East Greenwich to an attic space.
No injuries were reported.
A little more than a half-hour later, the remaining three North Kingstown engines and a rescue left to answer an alarm in the West Davisville Industrial Park.
Three minutes after that, callers began reporting flames on Corey Avenue, and North Kingstown police confirmed that two buildings were burning. Some units on their way to the unknown problem at Davisville were diverted to the confirmed fires on Corey Avenue.
