Almost 600,000 people who live, work and study in Rhode Island are partially or fully vaccinated against COVID-19, according to new data released Wednesday by the R.I. Department of Health.
Health officials say more than 467,000 people are fully vaccinated so far and another 129,000 have gotten the first of two doses of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines.
On Tuesday, the state passed 1 million total doses administered as eligibility for the Pfizer vaccine expanded to children ages 12 to 15.
Parents and guardians can visit VaccinateRI.org to register their children for appointments at state-run clinics.
Appointments for adolescents will also be available at city- and town-run vaccination clinics, state officials said, while pharmacy chains are expected to begin offering them as well.
CVS Health announced Wednesday that appointments for 12- to 15-year-olds are now available at 5,600 pharmacy locations nationwide.
