Several people were left without a home after a fire in Providence on Wednesday afternoon. The Providence Fire Department said the blaze started at 4:01 p.m. on River Avenue and was quickly extinguished by responding crews. The department added that the fire was confined to one room but left the house uninhabitable. Five people were inside the home at the time of the fire, all escaping without injury, per officials. The Red Cross is assisting those impacted by the incident, which is under investigation.
