Crews responded to a fire that broke out at a home in Smithfield on Saturday evening.
Smithfield Fire Department’s Deputy Chief Steve Quattrini told 12 News that they first got a call about this fire at the home on Continental Road around 7 p.m.
He said that when crews got to the scene, they saw smoke coming through the house’s roof, caused by heavy fire coming from the attic.
There were approximately 50 firefighters present, including assistance from neighboring towns, according to Quattrini.
There was one person in the home during this fire and they got out safely.
Quattrini said the fire might have started in the backyard, but that has not been officially confirmed. What caused the fire is under investigation.
