Franklin emergency personnel contained an apartment fire Monday afternoon in the kitchen of a second-floor apartment. Franklin Fire Department Assistant Fire Marshal Jonathan Dye said a neighbor called in the concern at the Everly Apartments. Dye said the resident heard the smoke alarm and called building maintenance. Upon investigation, a building maintenance employee discovered the fire and called 911. Firefighters arrived to find a small fire on the range top and quickly extinguished it. The fire was smoky but not hot enough to activate the automatic fire sprinklers, Dye said. No one was injured, and no other apartments were damaged in the three-story 24-unit building.
