The Lawrenceburg Fire Department has broken ground on its new training center honoring fallen firefighter Jason Dickey. Family and friends gathered to celebrate the opening of the Jason Dickey Memorial Training Center, just days preceding the one-year anniversary of the firefighter’s sacrifice. Dickey, 38, an 11-year veteran of the Lawrenceburg Fire Department, died fighting a blaze at 512 Hood Lakes Road on Feb. 12, 2018. Four other firefighters were injured and taken to the hospital after fire and rescue units issued a “Mayday” distress call at 7:57 p.m., when the structure collapsed, trapping the five firefighters inside. Dickey is survived by his four children and his wife Jennifer, who was still pregnant with their youngest at the time of his passing.
