Smoke detectors, a quick 911 call and fast response by firefighters saves home from burning to the ground. Just before 3 p.m. Sunday, a call came in for reports of heavy smoke and flames coming from the crawl space of a home in the Boston Brance neighborhood on Signal Mountain. Walden's Ridge Emergency Services say crews cut an opening in the floors, found the fire in the crawl space and extinguished immediately. WRES fire officials reported the fire appears to be accidental and started from the electrical wiring in the crawl space. Damages are estimated to be $20,000. No injuries were reported but HCEMS was on the scene for any potential injuries to the firefighters. WRES requested a mutual aid response from Signal Mountain Fire Department and Lone Oak VFD to cover their district for any potential emergency calls.
