The Chattanooga Fire Department had multiple companies respond to a house fire on the city’s south side in the 4100 block of Dorris Street Tuesday around 11:15 p.m. When crews arrived, heavy fire was coming through the roof and neighbors advised that there was possibly someone still inside the home. Firefighters tried to make entry to conduct a search, but they were not able to due to the strength of the fire. It took approximately 40 minutes to get the blaze under control and crews dealt with hot spots for several hours. A second alarm was called due to the possibility of entrapment, but it was later cancelled. The Chattanooga Police Department, EPB and Hamilton County EMS provided assistance on the scene. The vacant home is a total loss.
