Two Murfreesboro families were displaced when a fire damaged their homes on Boyd Drive in Murfreesboro. According to Murfreesboro Fire officials, the fire broke out at a home on the 5000 block around 8:30 a.m. Thursday. Four people were inside at the time. They were able to get out safely and two cats were seen running from the home. The flames destroyed the home then spread to a neighboring home, damaging it as well. Multiple engines responded to the scene. “There were challenges extinguishing the fire,” said MFRD Acting Battalion Chief and Training Captain Terry Smith. “The houses are close together and the high winds caused the fire to spread to a neighboring home. Crews quickly extinguished both homes.”
