Lieutenant Brett Hibberts, a volunteer firefighter with the Second District Fire Department in Johnson County, is no stranger to being busy giving his time and skills on behalf of his community. But being a local volunteer first responder is just one of the many hats Hibberts wears. He is also a Charter Communications Inc. Spectrum technician, a collaboration that came in handy this week. Thanks to pursuing his company’s philanthropic program, Spectrum Employee Community Grant, Hibberts received a donation of $500 from Spectrum last week to be used for purchasing some much-needed supplies for the station located just outside Mountain City. “The money will be used to replace old or faulty gear, for newer upgraded devices such as flashlights that will allow firefighters to be safe in all emergency situations,” Hibberts said following a check presentation earlier this week at the fire station located at 236 Sunset Dr. in Mountain City.
