The Chattanooga Fire Department responded to a fire at the United Steelworkers Local 15120 building at 1109 Fairview Avenue on Saturday evening. According to the fire department, smoke was coming out of the roof when crews arrived. Firefighters went to an upstairs apartment where flames were visible in the kitchen area. Firefighters made progress in putting out the kitchen fire but noticed an adjacent room had flames coming from the ceiling. Once the fire was out, crews conducted salvage and overhaul to preserve the residents' belongings. “Everyone knew exactly what to do. We were quick and methodical and it was a job well done,” Cpt. Vernon Horn said.
