PHOTOS: The Kingsport Fire Department is getting ready to roll out two new pieces of equipment.
The department recently took delivery of two brand new Pierce Velocity fire engines.
Barry Brickey, with the department, says crews have been in the process of installing necessary equipment, like hoses and air tanks.
News 5 learned the price-tag on the engines totaled over $700,000 each, and older vehicles are slated to be retired. Brickey adds firefighters were also able to have some fun and share their input on the colors of the trucks. "It's fantastic," said Brickey. "There's a brand new color scheme, matter of fact, our firefighters got together, they took a poll, and decided they were going to go with our chartreuse color and a smokey grey, so we are excited to have these engines, they look great."
