Firefighters who risk their lives everyday to keep us safe are among the most recent victims of car break-ins in Memphis. Police said nine employees at MFD Station 55 on Riverdale Road had their vehicles broken into early Thursday morning. And it's not the first time this had happened at this station. “You just kind of grown into that this is the new norm,” said Steve Childress, insurance agent. It’s a problem the firefighters and EMT’s at Fire House 55 have been dealing with for years: thieves targeting the men and women who help keep us safe. “They actually starting driving junk cars to work because they know there is a high possibility their cars are going to get broken into,” said Childress.
