VIDEO: The Knoxville Fire Department responded to a commercial fire Sunday morning. KFD said crews were dispatched to the fire at Wheels Auto Sales, located in the 6200 block of Chapman Highway, shortly after 9:30 a.m. Sunday. Firefighters arrived on the scene and began fighting the fire, but KFD said crews had “extreme difficulty reaching the bulk of it due to the large number of items stored within the building.” Because of this, KFD said crews had to clear a path to find where the majority of the fire was at. Although crews got the fire under control within 20 minutes, the building “suffered significant fire damage,” KFD said. Additionally, it did not have sprinklers or alarms. One firefighter was also treated on the scene for a minor injury. KFD said the fire partially shut down the southbound lanes of Chapman Highway. As of 11 a.m., TN Smartway still shows traffic delays in the area.
