Firefighters with the Knoxville Fire Department were called to a house fire just before 10:00 Tuesday morning. The Knox County 911 Center received the call of the fire on Crest Point Road near Pleasant Ridge Road in North Knoxville. The caller said that she had returned home and found her house on fire. Firefighters arrived just 16 minutes after the call to 911 and found a two-story single-family home on fire with the bulk of the fire in the rear of the home, officials said. Asst. Chief Mark Wilbanks said that two adults and a dog lived in the house and one woman was taken to a local hospital as a precaution. The home has suffered heavy fire, smoke and water damage. Knoxville Fire investigators are working to figure out how it started. The American Red Cross is assisting the occupants of the home.
