PHOTO: The Rutledge Volunteer Fire Department has received a donation of a 1991 Seagrave fire engine. Now, they just need somewhere to put it. Assistant Fire Chief Ryan McElhaney said an individual in the community who wishes to remain anonymous purchased the fire engine to donate it to RVFD. He said it was purchased through an online auction site that allows for inspection of the item purchased before taking ownership, and members of RVFD traveled to the Fern Creek Fire Department in Louisville, Kentucky to inspect the truck. While there, they spoke with members of the Fern Creek department and told them about RVFD. McElhaney said they accepted the truck and brought it back to Rutledge. It was then the Fern Creek department called and said they were going to reimburse the community member’s money and donate the truck to RVFD.
