A fire caused major damage to a mobile home in Richland Wednesday afternoon. According to the Richland Fire Department, multiple people who were inside when the fire broke out managed to get out safely. Firefighters rushed to the home on Proton Lane near Center Street shortly after 5 p.m. When they arrived, heavy flames were showing out the windows on two sides of the home, and the fire was threatening two other nearby buildings. Crews put out the flames within 10 to 15 minutes. The home appears to be a total loss, according to Richland Fire. Investigators are working to determine the cause.
