A three-story apartment evacuated on Monday after a fire started in an outdoor balcony storage room, officials said. The fire happened at the Copper Ridge Apartments at 5501 Hildebrand Boulevard near Southridge High School around 3:30 p.m. Staff at the apartment complex attempted to suppress the fire until first responders arrived. No one was injured. Kennewick police assisted firefighters with evacuating the building. Police said the fire does not appear to be suspicious. According to Kennewick Fire Capt. Brian Ellis, the fire caused roughly $2,000 in damage. The cause is under investigation.
