Firefighters battled a brush fire near Cascade Valley Park on Saturday afternoon and believe they know what caused the blaze. According to Grant County Fire District #5 Battalion Chief Robert Horst, firefighters responded to reports of an outside fire in the area of Cascade Valley Park on the hill at approximately 12:45 p.m. Saturday afternoon. Horst said due to the fact that the location of the fire was unknown, the Moses Lake Fire Department and Grant County Fire District #5 responded to the blaze, but Moses Lake firefighters advised once on scene the blaze was in fact in Grant County Fire District 5's jurisdiction. Horst told us Saturday afternoon that both agencies attacked the fire, and were able to successfully contain the blaze which burned 1.5 acres.
