A late night fire burned part of a popular summertime fruit stand in Snohomish, but luckily the fire was extinguished before it was able to do significant damage. It was just after 10 p.m. when a relative with Stocker Family Farms was driving by the area, smelled smoke and called 911. Firefighters arrived to find flames coming from the outside part of a storage area near a main building. Eventually, firefighters from four neighboring fire departments were at the scene to douse the flames. Damage was mostly limited to the outside of the business, says Ron Simmons with Snohomish County Fire District No. 4. There was some smoke damage inside, but the damage was not significant and in fact, Simmons says they should be able to reopen once power is restored to the building. "Right now, they've got a little bit of work to do inside," Simmons said. "But for the most part, they'll be able to go back in business."
