One person was seriously injured in a two-alarm fire on Van Giesen Street in West Richland Thursday afternoon, according to Chief Bill Whealan with Benton County Fire District 4.
Firefighters responded to a burning mobile home South 39th Avenue and Van Giesen Street across the street from the West Richland Police Department around 12:30 p.m.
When they arrived, at least two mobile homes and an outbuilding were burned. A man in his late 50s or early 60s was rushed to a local hospital with severe burns, Whealan said, adding that he will likely need to be airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.
Van Giesen was closed between 38th and 40th Avenue, said West Richland Police Capt. Tom Grego.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
