A strike team of firefighters from Tri-Cities and Walla Walla has arrived in southern California to battle a massive wildfire in Sonoma County.
Benton County Fire District 1 says local firefighters have been assigned to the Kincade Fire, which has burned more than 76,000 acres in less than a week. The firefighters will be helping with mop up and building protection on the south and southeast ends of the fire.
The fire is about 30% contained as of Wednesday, Oct. 30.
District 1 says about 52,000 personnel are working to put out the fire with another 700 expected to arrive in the next few days.
Walla Walla Emergency Management confirmed that Walla Walla firefighters are part of the strike team.
