Folks cruising on North Wenatchee Avenue can catch a glimpse of the progress on Chelan County Fire District 1’s new station as it moves along through the construction process. The new station is set for a substantial completion date on September 25 with a punch list to continue on through October 16 and plans to move in on October 1. “It’s laid out real nice,” said Chief Brian Brett. “It’s two stories, the second floor is the firefighter crew quarters, the main floor is all offices, it has drive thru apparatus space and it has a daylight walkout basement with a meeting room and exercise room downstairs.” The current downtown fire station, at the corner of Yakima and Chelan, will no longer be a fire station once the new station is completed. According to Chief Brett, the district will hold an open house eventually, but no concrete date has been set until it’s more clear how the COVID-19 situation pans out.
