The Skamania County Sheriff's Office and other emergency personnel helped rescue a woman who fell over Spirit Falls, near Cook, Washington, Monday evening.
According to the sheriff's office, deputies, search and rescue crews, and medics responded to Spirit Falls on the White Salmon River after receiving a call that a woman had gone over the falls shortly after 5:30 p.m. The caller said the woman, 23-year-old Rachel E. Goodwin, of Washougal, had swam to the bank and was currently behind the waterfall. However, she could not get out due to the forced of the falls and the steep cliff face.
Officials said Goodwin was near the falls when she fell and was swept over.
First responders found Goodwin behind the falls. She was uninjured, but was cold and susceptible to hypothermia.
