For the first time in over two months, King County recorded no new deaths from COVID-19 in its daily update.
Public health officials said 86 new cases of coronavirus were confirmed over the past 24 hours in King County - but not a single death. It was the first time that King County had recorded no new coronavirus deaths in a 24-hour period since March 7.
Elsewhere in Washington, however, at least eight more lives were cut short by coronavirus since Wednesday, raising the statewide death toll to 983, state health officials said.
Counties reporting additional deaths included Pierce County, Yakima County, Spokane County, Benton County, Franklin County and Snohomish County.
The number of new confirmed cases in Washington also climbed to 17,773 - an increase of 249 new cases statewide since Wednesday. Health officials say the true number of cases is substantially higher than that but can't be quantified exactly due to testing limitations.
