Evans Canyon fire at 69,920 acres, 10% contained; Kittitas County areas lowered to Level 2 evacuations

The Evans Canyon fire has grown to at least 69,920 acres and it is now at 10% containment, according to the Southeast Washington Interagency Incident Management Team. As of Friday morning, at least 734 personnel battling the fire, especially 7 helicopters, 10 dozers, 10 water tenders, 17 hand crews, 79 engines. Also, the Incident Management Team says the fire is estimated to be contained by November 1. However, it is only an estimate. High pressure will linger over the region through Sunday. Highs in the mid to upper 80s are be expected on the ridges and 90-100 degrees Fahrenheit in the canyons. Relative humidity will once again drop into the teens with some areas in the low teens. Winds will be light and mainly coming from the south.
