Quincy first responders from Grant County Fire District No. 3, AFF Local 4418 firefighters, Quincy Police Guild and Protection One Ambulance Service came together last week to assist a community member in need. Members of the various emergency services purchased two 12-volt batteries, and a new wheelchair charger for Quincy resident Dave Stratton. Stratton uses a battery-operated wheelchair as his main form of transportation. He had found himself in a difficult situation a few times due to the old batteries in his chair not holding a charge as long anymore, sometimes leaving him stranded in a crosswalk and in need of assistance. Fire, EMS, and law enforcement members elected to cover the costs of the new equipment for Stratton in addition to coming to his house and installing the new batteries and charger.
