The Vancouver Fire Department responded to two commercial fires overnight and the firefighters’ efforts saved both buildings. The first business saved was MAACO, located at 2735 NE Andreesen. The second business saved was Jay’s Stop and Go at 5620 NE Gher Rd. Vancouver firefighters responded to the MAACO fire within six minutes to find the one-story commercial building on fire at 10:19 p.m. Wednesday night. Due to the industrial nature of the building’s construction and the location of the seat of the fire, crews had to use multiple fire attacks of differing types to extinguish the blaze. The fire was attacked from the roof and inside the building. The fire was deemed under control after 70 minutes of intense work by the 26 firefighters on scene. No one was injured.
