Arson suspect identified in Edmonds grocery store fire

Police have identified a suspected arsonist who torched a grocery store in Edmonds last month, but are looking for your help in finding him. The fire broke out around 4:40 a.m. on Dec. 23 at the Firdale Village shopping plaza, according to Leslie Hynes with South Snohomish County Fire & Rescue. Two people were inside the store when fire started and managed to escape as several firefighters responded to the two-alarm call. Firefighters were able to douse the flames about 30 minutes later and no one was injured. Investigators were able to obtain video and photos of the arsonist and have identified their suspect as 62-year-old James P. Doggett. He was contacted in the area before and after the fire was discovered and is a transient who is known to have been in the area since the arson, according to Sgt. Josh McClure with Edmonds Police.
