A two-alarm fire ripped through Tomlinson Linen Service Saturday afternoon with nearly 40 firefighters called to the scene. Tacoma Fire tells KOMO News someone driving past the large building near S. Pine and Tacoma Way called 911 after spotting smoke and flames coming from the roof. The first crews to arrive quickly noticed it was unsafe to go inside. “It was clear that the fire was significant so we began what we call a defensive operation,” said Joe Meinecke with Tacoma Fire. The roof and many of the walls collapsed as firefighters did their best to put water on it. No one was working at the time and no firefighters were injured. In all, 36 responded along with a dozen apparatus.
