Clallam 2 Fire-Rescue promoted Tyler Gear, Ian Brueckner and Tyler Reid to captain at a July 1 ceremony.
The new captains will each supervise one of the district’s 24-hour shifts as well as assume overall responsibility for either vehicles, equipment or facilities.
The captains were selected after a testing and evaluation process rated by representatives from surrounding departments to include Clallam County Fire District #3, Clallam County Fire District #4, East Jefferson Fire Rescue, Port Angeles Fire Department, Olympic Ambulance and Lower Elwha Klallam Tribe Emergency Management. Gear, who was a Fire Explorer from 2008 until becoming a volunteer firefighter/EMT in 2016, is certified as a firefighter 1, wildland firefighter 2 and rope rescue technician.
