A woman whose home was destroyed by fire in the Satsop area early Wednesday morning had been talking with Sheriff's deputies just before she suffered a medical event, collapsed and died, according to a news release from Grays Harbor Fire District 5.
Firefighters and deputies responded to a trailer fire in the 0-100 block of Keys Road west about 1:30 a.m. Deputies made contact with the occupants of the home and were told that all occupants were out of the home but that there was ammunition and oxygen tanks exploding inside the trailer, which was fully engulfed in flames.
One of the female occupants who had been speaking with the deputies suddenly became ill and collapsed and the deputies initiated CPR.
Paramedics arrived and continued CPR on the 63-year-old woman, but resuscitation efforts were unsuccessful. From statements of other occupants of the home, it was determined that the woman suffered a medical event unrelated to the fire.
