VIDEO/PHOTOS: A man, woman and their dog were found dead after an apartment caught fire in Seattle’s Miller Park neighborhood Thursday night.
According to the Seattle Fire Department (SFD), crews responded to the Elizabeth James House just before 11:40 p.m. Thursday after receiving reports of flames coming through the window of a unit on the third floor of the complex.
When firefighters arrived at the building on the 100 block of 23rd Avenue East, crews saw flames coming from the window that extended up to the eaves of the roof of the building. Firefighters quickly put water on the fire from the outside of the building as other crews raised ladders to the roof of the building.
The SFD said “moderate” amounts of smoke billowed from the apartment unit’s closed door and into the hallway, but the protective fire doors at the complex prevented much of the smokes from impacting other areas.
