A brush fire spread to two duplexes on Pullman's College Hill Monday afternoon, displacing a family and injuring three. Pullman firefighters were called out to a grass fire that was threatening multiple structures around 12:30 p.m. near NE Hillside Drive and NE Wheatland Drive. Crews arrived at the scene and began battling the brush fire that had already spread to a duplex due to 25 mph winds. During the response, a power line fell and landed on a fire engine. Luckily no one was injured, the engine continued functioning, and Avista shut off the power line. One duplex was badly damaged by the fire and water, and an adjacent duplex sustained fire and smoke damage. The fire also damaged five vehicles and a boat. A family of six was displaced, and three residents were treated for smoke inhalation. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
