PHOTO: Around 22:08 on the 20th of March, Yakima County Fire District 5 was notified of a structure fire in the area of Wierman and North Track Road, NW of the City of Toppenish. An additional caller in the area of 10200 N. Track stated that it was her neighbor's house and that it was possibly an abandoned structure.
On arrival of the first arriving Command Officer, he found a two story wood framed farm house with fire showing from the basement windows on the SE side. A walk around was completed and it was confirmed that there was fire throughout the basement and fire on the second story. Due to the amount of fire in the basement and the second story and confirmation of it not being occupied, it was determined that it would be a Defensive fire. Hose lines were deployed and fire knock down was attempted.
