VIDEO: The U.S. Forest Service is teaming up with Work for Warriors program to give veterans the tools they need to know how to fight fires. A group was out training Wednesday in Nevada City to learn how to build fire lines and use chainsaws and hoses. Work for Warriors is a state and federally funded job placement program that helps post-9/11 veterans, active National Guard and Reserve members, military spouses and Gold Star families find civilian employment in California. The program has "been instrumental" in helping veterans get jobs with the Eldorado, Tahoe and Plumas national forests as wildland firefighters, officials say.
