Green Bay Metro Fire Department battled small fires at Bay Beach Wildlife Sanctuary and the trails in the area late Tuesday afternoon. Green Bay Metro Fire Department units were dispatched for a vegetation fire in the area east of the Nature Center, 200 yards along a trail. Fire department units were able to find multiple small area fires in an area full of cottonwood and dry brush. Green Bay Metro Fire Department units spent about an hour making sure all fires were out and firefighters used four teams and a UTV wildland unit to extinguish all the fires. The Wisconsin DNR, Green Bay Police Department, Green Bay Parks Department, and Brown County Dispatch all assisted with the incident. No animals were injured and a deer stand structure suffered small charring to its steps.
