VIDEO/PHOTOS: Firefighters with the Martin County Fire Rescue (MCFR) worked to contain a brush fire that started from a controlled burn on Monday evening. MCFR crews said they were called in just before 5 p.m. to help the Florida Forest Service contain a blaze that spread from a 75-acre controlled burn. The State Forestry crews requested assistance after flames jumped a canal during a controlled burn near Bridge Road and U.S. 1, near John Dickinson State Park. Photos and a video taken at the scene show the flames climbing up the trees. Firefighters said it took roughly four hours to assist forestry crews in containing the flames. At last check, the fire was roughly 80% contained and no homes were in danger. Crews have since been called off the scene, MCFR said.
